Cyclone Yasi

02 Feb

Greetings my friends

Tonight at midnight Australian Eastern Standard time cyclone Yasi will cross Queensland’s border between Innisfail and Cardwell.

This life threatening storm headed for Queensland cyclone is predicted to be bigger than cyclone Tracy which wiped out the city of Darwin Christmas eve and Christmas day 1974.

Yasi is predicted to be the biggest seen for many generations in this country.

The cyclone has speeds of up to 290km/h and the eye of the cyclone has a diameter of 35 km and will cross land at high tide creating massive surges.

TV and radio services will be suspended during the time of the cyclones impact.

Qantas has suspended flights to and from to Cairns and Townsville.

Hundreds of patients at Cairns hospital have been evacuated to Brisbane hospital.

11,000 people already in 20 evacuation centres .

Ports are closed and major roads closing in the next few hours.

It has been advised that it is now too late for anyone to evacuate and when the cyclone crosses land it is predicted that no further communication both in and out of the cyclone area

will resume until approximately 12 hours and even longer later.

Only a few weeks back we saw Queensland’s capital city Brisbane and major towns such as Toowoomba awash with devastating floods , smaller towns washed away .

I sit here and write this in South Australia with temperatures fluctuating in the high 30s and 40s and a heat wave and consider this great country and its diversity of climes.

Queensland suffered for 10 years with a debilitating drought and  this was finally resolved in a most horrific manner of floods ,we are having floods in Victoria and New South Wales

as a result of those floods , and yet at the same time Victoria is experiencing floods , they are experiencing raging bushfires and high temperatures .

Our country is being tested in all climes at the moment , but one thing we are all sure of, and that is Australians are resilient ,and we help our neighbour , we will recover.

God breathe mercy on Queensland tonight.

For surely tomorrow

We will see Hell

Amen

so much suffering, Ian, and it goes on, and it makes you wonder how and why?… It also makes you question what’s happening to this worlds weather patterns and where will it end.
Out thoughts and prayers are with the people who have to live through this and then face the outcome of what’s left after Mother nature has wreaked such havoc., xPenx

They have been put though so much in the last few weeks, it doesn’t seem right that this now should happen to them,
May God watch over them all and keep them safe till this is over

Nothing I could say would be enough to reflect my concern for what is happening to Australia.

Please stay safe my friends – this seems to be an ongoing nightmare….

    God Bless and protect you.

It’s not a good outlook there Ian, my thoughts will be there with them all and hope it’s not on its way over to New Zealand. I couldn’t get the video to work sorry, maybe you could change it.
