Over my life I have travelled and seen different cultures and various lifestyles and
In my experiences I have seen many different forms of Arts and Crafts which are unique and intrinsically beautiful to each and every country. From the Headdress of the New Guinea people to the eclectic religious peoples off the coast of South Vietnam . I have developed an appreciation of their various talents and crafts .Today I want to share with you a unique piece of artwork I bought back from South America when I lived there a few years back. My wife took me to a place situated a few miles out of Santiago Chile that specialised in Arts and crafts that you would find in any country except that here I found something I thought was unique and strange in its Art form.
I purchased a sample of the craftsman work.
This young artist specialises in the art of sculpture from matchsticks
He was busy sculpturing a cowboy at the time I was there which I subsequently purchased , on the bench before him I was astounded to see the array of his talents , there was the Eiffel Tower , the Virgin Mary , ships and planes , all carved so minutely it was amazing , he was able to carve from a matchstick anything that you can imagine.
I realise that there is many other styles of miniature art forms throughout the world but to me to witness this young guy at his work was mesmerising and awesome to say the least.
My next return to Chile I will surely be bringing back more examples of this young artists works.
I submit a pix of the miniature cowboy I purchased and after you see it I hope you will appreciate as I did the skills of a modern day artist from South America specializing in the miniature.
