How is Norma ?

How is Norma ?

A sweet grandmother telephoned St Joseph’s Hospital.

She timidly asked, “Is it possible to speak to someone

who can tell me how a patient is doing?”

The operator said “I’ll be glad to help, dear.

Whats the name and room number of the patient?”

The grandmother in her weak, tremulous voice said,

Norma Findlay,Room302”.

The operator replied,”let me put you on hold

while I check with the nurses station for that room.”

After a few minutes, the operator returned to the phone and said,

I have good news.

Her nurse has just told me that Norma is doing well.

Her blood pressure is fine;her blood work just came back normal,

and her physician Dr Cohen has scheduled her to be discharged tomorrow

The grandmother said,

Thank you.Thats wonderful.I was so worried

God bless you for the good news.

The operator replied,

Your more than welcome, Is Norma your daughter?”

The grandmother said,”No, I am Norma Findlay in room 302

No one tells me bloody nothing

We needed a drum roll or “wait for this. . .” Fantastic ending, Ian. So appropriate for today’s medical condition where we are clueless! 🙂

Hi Robin, I would have thought you had heard this story before, you are quite right, in today’s fast paced medical system, we actually do have to search for the answers to our medical conditions.
Hope your week has started off well.

Must admit Sue it’s an old joke, local newspaper saw fit to print it in one of their sections for amusement.
I do tend to get a lot of publication in our local papers, mainly political which would be of no interest on Word press.

It still made me smile… Oh and you would be surprised at how many ‘Political posts’ I follow lol 🙂 And your writing must be good to get published xxx

My political writing is highly emotive, think that’s why the editors publish my writings, they get a feed back from the public, and controversy makes headlines.

It’s hysterical because it’s true!! I think it has to do with the hospital staff having control issues/ 🙄

I think this post is bloody true gp, can’t get info off the Docs or Nurses, but they will disclose a diagnosis over the phone sometimes.
Going through my emails at the moment, need to catch up before I lose track of posts.

Good sense of humour, but it does show the hospital is no longer hospitable, when it turns into an industry without being industrious in communication.

Sometimes that actual scenario does occur I think.
Now and then you have more chance of a diagnosis over the phone than in person.

A great little story Sue and can imagine it being done in real life
They tell you nothing in the hospital but will tell others

About the only way you can get info out of a hospital when you are in there
