Mildura My Hometown

12 Jun

Greetings friends ,I want to share these few pictures of the great Murray river that my city Mildura sits on . The Murray flows through three states in Australia , South Australia,New South Wales and Victoria.

Mildura is located on the Murray River in the North West corner of Victoria. One of Australia’s fastest growing inland centres it is home to 25,000+ people in Mildura City and another 20,000+ in surrounding townships.

Mildura is an Aboriginal term meaning Red Earth. But don’t think Mildura is surrounded by bush and dirt. The countryside is a wonderful combination of wineries, orchards, flower gardens including Australia’s only inland Botanic Garden.

Mildura has a wide range of activities and attractions. There are wineries to visit, paddleboats & houseboats, museums, art galleries, fishery, gardens, local craft and antique shops and much more. Mildura is an excellent stepping off point for many National Parks and tours. Bush walks and camping are also popular.

Each year there is the Mildura Jazz, Food & Wine Festival, Mildura International Balloon Fiesta, Mildura & Wentworth Arts Festival and the Mildura Country Music Festival.

These are a few pics I took when taking a lazy stroll and admiring the view one Sunday morning recently, hope you enjoy

Cheers

Emu

It’s a great event here each year Robin, our little city is renowned for its fine wines and foods.
We are primarily a wine growing region. Maybe you will visit one day.
      Regards.

    Hi,
Fantastic photos. It has been many years since I have been to Mildura, but there were plenty of places to visit and things to do, a very lovely part of the Oz. 🙂

Hi Kate, we do have many houseboats that float up and down the river with people living on board
      Thought about it myself once.
      Wishing you well
