Thanks Kim,must admit I am way behind on wordpress, then again at this time of the year its to be expected.
42 degrees here and bushfires have started like they do every year, hotter tomorrow, it drains all the energy.

Greetings my friend, sorry for the delay in responding, it has been a busy season and I am now just catching up on comments and blogs.
Very hot weather where we are but a great flood is predicted, at least this year we have no bushfires close to us, but we did lose many houses over the border in South Australia.
          Wishing you well.

I’m catching up too, Ian, after having the flu. Terrible to hear of bush fires, homes being lost and now, floods coming soon. God bless you and your family. Please be safe.

Hi Kim, we certainly get a variety of weather this time of the year.
Was 42 degrees a few days back, high steamy humidity and yet it rained hailstones.
Fires in one area and floods in the other, weird.
Hope your well over the flu now Kim, gets depressing when it lingers on.
            Wishing you well my friend.
            Kind regards
            Ian aka Emu

Hi Kim, thanks for the visit, but more importantly hoping you are feeling okay.
By the sound of it you are not going too well, hope its not sickness,
if its anything like I have at the moment its lack of energy or enthusiasm, happens every year.
Noticed it happened from the day I was born, each year gets a little harder, hehe
            Keep smiling girl.

We wish you and Ana a great Happy New Year!
We started the New Year with some great new friends near Bega. Caroline and Matthew were with us. We arrived back home in Dapto this afternoon. During the past week we made hundreds of pictures. We had a great holiday in Melbourne with our son Martin as well as Caroline and Matthew. Maybe tomorrow after a good nights sleep I’ll do some blogging with pictures –

Looking forward to your pics Uta, you should have plenty of time to sort them out, you cant go outside for the next day or so, hot, damn hot.
42 degrees here today and hotter tomorrow, heading for a really hot summer, bushfires have started.
Great that you enjoyed your Melbourne trip, time Ana and I took a trip down that way, Ana’s never seen it apart from the airport.

        January 2, 2015 at 9:31 am

Just published a few of the pics, Ian. The temperatures over the weekend are probably going to be only around 30 degrees here in the Wollongong area. But there is already quite high humidity!
I would recommend for you and Ana to visit the Blue Lotus Water Garden in Yarra Junction on the Warburton Hwy. This garden is really beautiful and open till the 7th of April this year. It is a seasonal tourist venue, open for 14 weeks during summer and autumn each year.
        Uta 🙂

Thanks for the link Uta, dont think I will visit it during the Summer fire season though.
Autumn sounds better, still catching up on posts Uta but see a couple of yours posted.
43 here at the moment and bushfires down South and across the border in SA.

            January 3, 2015 at 5:23 am

43, this is really hot, Ian. We’ve been lucky so far: 34 outside, 30 inside. Melbourne is very hot too right now. We escaped Melbourne just in time! When we arrived in Melbourne last week there were nearly wintry temperatures. – You do right staying at home during the fire season. We saw the news about the bushfires. Very bad. Some houses are already lost.
Hoping you and Ana can stay cool enough inside. 🙂

Hi Uta, just trying to catch up on comments and blogs, been a hectic season, see I have a few of yours to read yet.
One day at a time though I think, still hot up our way, no bushfires but looking forward to this cool change predicted, seems everyone is getting it now except us.

          • auntyuta

            January 7, 2015 at 7:45 pm

Big cool change coming Uta, so far its just drizzling rain.
Day before yesterday was 38 degrees and still rain.
Hard to imagine bushfires and flooding occurring down our way in areas.

Hi Sue, doing the rounds and trying to catch up on comments and blogs, a busy time of the year so I think thats a good enough excuse.
Still boiling hot up our way, no bushfires near us but a great drenching for four days is forecast.
Vegies are struggling like me at the moment, a few drops of water for them and a few drops for me, I look at them and seem to be wilting in sympathy.

[sorry but my memory is more like a black hole everyday – did I give you this site to read?

    • The Emu

      December 28, 2014 at 3:14 am

Hi gp,no I hadn’t seen that site, just checked it out, the story of the bracelets is damn interesting, I had never heard of this tradition with the pilots, but then again there were many traditions that had personal meanings, been a while since I checked out the MIA list from Vietnam for America.
We had the last MIA from Australia returned a few years back, his name was Blackhurst.
After the New Year mate I would like you to try and track down for me a Special Forces K bar knife, when I was in Vietnam with AATTV we were issued Americal uniforms and weapons and all the other Special forces gear, when we left country we had to hand it back, apparently we could keep some of the gear, I lost my K bar and my Special Forces survival kit.
I have tried to get a Special Forces K bar knife here in Australia, but find they are not Vietnam era and are purely reproductions.
So keep an eye out for me mate, will cover all costs just to be reunited with my old faithful K bar.
Wishing you a great New Year gp, and keep those posts rolling.

      • gpcox

        December 28, 2014 at 10:46 am

I took a quick look around and saw quite a few web sites warning about reproductions of the Ka-bar [some even have 66/67 scratched into the bottom to make them appear more authentic]. So – I figured you might better just contact them

hope I did that link right____but I’ll still keep my eyes open!

Greetings gp, thanks for checking that out for me, seems we are inundated with replicas over here and the same seems to be in your country.
Duplications abound, even from the manufacturers, I will keep my hopes up of actually obtaining my original one that was issued during my Vietnam days, purely sentimental reasons.

Thanks for the comment Melanie, yes the Christmas celebrations have different meanings to different people, both spiritually and materially.
For me its just a family tradition, I dont enjoy the material commercialism of Christmas.
Today, Christmas day is also my wifes Ana’s birthday, so apart from Christmas, I am grateful for the day my wife was born.

My pleasure Melanie, yes Christmas and Easter are too commercialised for me, I only endure them for the Grandchildrens sake, but wish their parents wouldn’t introduce them to commercialism and new technology at such a young age.
Next week there will probably be bloody Easter Bunnies on the supermarket shelves.
Wishing you a great closure to this year.
